In mid-December I started a "retirement and closing sale". There were several reasons for this decision. I recently underwent surgery and the doctors have recommended easing my activities. With the slow winter season it has been difficult to achieve good results in the store. All of this along with the general uncertainty of the economy lead to this decision.
I was pleasantly surprised by the many positive comments. Many were sad that Forum might close and it is heart-warming to hear that Forum has come to mean that much for so many.
I DECIDED TO KEEP THE ANTIQUES STORE OPEN!!! To restructure my work load, the store will be offering consignment and store items only, no more dealers and I've upgraded our appraisal and auction services. Let me know what you think! I am curious to read and hear your reactions to the news. UNTIL ALL CHANGES ARE IMPLIMENTED WE KEEP SELLING OUR ANTIQUES AT TOP BARGAIN PRICES. We expect everything to be back to normal in May.
The sale brought many surprises! Business over the winter period turned out to be good as was the positive of mood of the visitors. I have experienced this during previous recession periods. Customers stop buying during times of uncertainty and as soon as they know what to expect for themselves they start getting back to normal, albeit with caution. In other words this is good news as it signals a return to better times. The sale at Forum will continues into Spring as I need to reduce the retailing activities. Each day we still get truckloads of new exciting items in consignment.
